What Rex said

The album follows a character who keeps switching personas to win over a girl, which is where song titles like "Hannah Montana," "Iron Man" and "Elvis" come from, according to the press release quoted by Billboard Philippines. Rex summed up the main character this way: "This guy is tired of dreaming and becoming all these people in the pursuit of that dream."

He also said he wants fans to hear the songs the way they were made, on the move and on guitar, in small rooms. That fits the run of intimate fan shows across the UK, Ireland and Southeast Asia where he first teased "Grandma Song."

Context

Rex built his name in bedroom pop, starting with 2016's Bcos U Will Never B Free and 2017's Apricot Princess, Apple Music's editorial notes point out. On 2024's The Alexander Technique he started working with outside producers like James Blake and Teo Halm. Dream Fatigue goes further: Billboard Philippines calls it his most collaborative project yet.

For this page's readers, the Daniel Caesar link is the headline. "Indecision" was the opening move of the rollout, and it has its own official music video on Apple Music. Co-executive producer Dylan Wiggins has also worked with Justin Bieber, per Billboard Philippines.

Apple Music's notes also call out "The Colosseum," where Mustafa's deeper voice plays against Rex's higher range, and "Elvis," which puts Turnstile's Brendan Yates, a hardcore singer, on a smooth love song.
